happy humpday!
does anyone know if there is a way to burn onto a cd from a website that
uses realaudio?  do you need to have special "stuff" on your pc (i can burn
cd's) or is it just not possible.  i've tried to play around and haven't
been able to figure out how to get what i want.

peace,
jen

how i would do it: get a cord with a plug on each end, plug one end into
your audio in, the other into your audio out. start the real audio
playing, and record with an audio recording program.

but somebody asked this same sort of question awhile ago, and somebody
else came up with a better answer than mine, so you might want to search
back through the archives.

good luck

to the best of my knowledge, realaudio is a "dead end" format, meaning
it's designed for things to be moved from other formats into ra, but
there aren't any official programs which will reverse the process.
there's a chance that real makes programs that go the other way, but
they'll cost you money.  probably lots of money.  (i could be wrong --
i know that purchasing the quicktime player will allow you to export
and save, things you can't do with the free version.)

there are probably hacks and other "questionable" bits of software out
there that will allow you to convert ra into mp3 or even aiff or wav
format, but i've never run across any of them.

the suggestion of patching your audio out to your audio in and
recording that way will work for some computer systems.  others, you'll
get this wonderful echo feedback loop.

good luck!  let us know what works!

i e-mailed jen personally with my response, but in case anyone else is
interested, all you actually need to do is play the ra file and record it
with the sound recorder built into most versions of windows to get it into a
burnable wav. file.  just disable any microphones so you don't get excess
noise.  i tried it with a couple of different ra files on my very basically
equipped computer at work and it worked just fine!

good luck,
victoria

i think that there'a a winamp plugin for real-audio .. then you can
convert to wav with the winamp wav writer output plugin or use something
like this:

http://www.wisecroft.com/info.html

to convert ra to wav

this is a great show to have a tape of (well, except for the julie gold portion - my apologies if you are a fan). actually all the ig austin city appearances are must haves because they appear so relaxed on them. a personal fav is the show from 97 or 98 that includes emily's duet with vonda shepard (baby don't you break my heart slow). knocked my socks off the first time i heard it.

the first time the show aired, i saw the entire episode and really liked it, the second time it aired, i just managed to record the ig performance portions and the jam they all do at the end of the show. i was not able to record the entire show.

i made a lot of copies of that show and sent it people on this list over the years, so anyone who has seen the copies has only seen the ig portion of the show. i have not been able to see the show since i recorded part of it. it first aired 11 years ago, where has the time gone?

i recorded the whole show (i was a big nanci griffith fan.) and even now
i just love the jam session at the end . but my tape is old and worn

(love julie gold too. i have a demo tape she recorded and it is really
good music. but was a little out of place on austin city limits though.)

e at times the tv signal was weak. but most of the time it is a great lit=
tle tape.  definitely needs to be put on cdr.  so if anyone can do that t=
echnology, let me know and i'll send it to them.

amy and emily acted as moderators for a section of the show and emily and=
vonda did their bdybmh slow thing which was beautiful.

the biggest challenge for me is to rescue ig performances from tape and v=
ideo tape.  so much is degrading and soon they will be completely lost:( =

i loved the girls before i saw the acl show, but it was the fetching way amy
sang jonas and ezekial, with the head tilt and the cute wrinkled up nose
that sealed my undying devotion to her for all time.

i loved loved loved those summerfest pics.  what were the camera tips that
worked so well?? just in case i ever try again to bring my camera.

i am so ready for the seattle shows!

in minneapolis there's a community radio station that's broadcast
throughout the twin
cities...kfai fm

i am not a professional dee jay, but kfai has
a program for people lke myself ( i have had some dee jay
experience.....at a mock radio station.) people with little dee jay
experience
called the wave project where each week someone gets to do their own
one-hour show...
(they do it all for you accept the music...you just have to bring your
music in, and let them know what you want to play and when.)

a friend thinks that i would do well  to suggest
that i do an interview with  ig. if i wanted to do that....i need to
know who to talk to at rcam,
the number, and how to present myself, i've
emailed russell but he never responded. so
i think maybe a phone call would be better.

is there anyone who could help me out here?

peace
