the indigo girls will be back with the atlanta ballet next season.

the decatur duo is set to perform in a march 2004 encore presentation of the
acclaimed "shed your skin," which had its world premiere at the fox theatre in
october 2001.

but they're not the only georgia pop superstars being wooed by the ballet.

r.e.m. could be next.

john mcfall, the ballet's artistic director and ceo, says the company has
entered into discussions with the athens-based rock group to develop a program
for the 2004-05 season, the ballet's 75th-anniversary season.

it's too early to say much more, though.

"we are looking into collaborating with many different artists, including
r.e.m., though no plans or programs have been finalized," mcfall said this
week.

the ballet's 2003-04 season, however, is set: > "a thousand & one nights." oct.
30-nov. 2. classical russian ballet set in a whimsical fairy tale world. > "the
nutcracker." nov. 29-dec. 27. tchaikovsky's holiday favorite. > "the nutty
nutcracker." dec. 26. for one night only --- the spoof. > "romeo & juliet."
feb. 12-21. shakespeare's love story set to dance by british choreographer
michael pink. > "not afraid of the dark." feb. 21-22. a glow-in-the-dark family
offering with puppets, lullabies, reggae and swing music. > "shed your skin ---
the indigo girls project." march 25-28. amy ray and emily saliers return in the
show the ajc called "a sizzling, defiant dose of hard-driving attitude
gorgeously vocalized by the indigo girls and interpreted in a fresh, hip,
no-holds-barred dance by the atlanta ballet."

all performances are at the fox, and season subscriptions are on sale (single
tickets available in august); $60-$181.50; 404-892-3303, www.atlantaballet.com.
subscriptions can also be purchased in person at the ballet's patron services
office, 1400 w. peachtree st. n.w. (entrance on spring street) in midtown,
noon-5 p.m. mondays-fridays

i must have been unconscious...no, i check my mail almost daily and don't
recall seeing anything indicating that tickets for the cape cod melody tent
show would be on sale this month. [...]

i checked the ig website which still does not list a sale date for tickets,
although it seems they've been on sale to the general public for almost 2
weeks! needless to say, the seats that are left are less than desirable.
