the indigo girls were right at home in the acoustic setting,
harmonizing with ease of "closer to fine" and "galileo" (featuring
crosby on vocals) and rocking out with authority on "chickenman." as
a request for one of the bridge school students sitting on a riser at
the back of the stage, the duo ran through a few bars of "old
mcdonald had a farm."

well, i went.  and of course, i was most looking forward to them.  i'm almost
never disappointed by an ig show, but on sunday (the only show i saw) i was
disappointed, probably due to the crowd being mostly made up of incubus/pearl
jam fans.  you know, they didn't seem to be themselves, and obviously they seem
most comfortable when everyone is there just to see them. they didn't talk
much, and they didn't seem as into it as they usually are.  chickenman and
finlandia were the high points for me.   here was their setlist, best i can
remember.

yield
go
closer to fine
old macdonald (for a kid named harold)
chickenman/bitterroot
galileo (with david crosby)
finlandia (the first time i ever heard this live. totally blew me away.)

and then they came out with everyone at the end for teach your children.

looking very forward to the three sf filmore shows i'm going to next month,
