ig's appearance on today perfectly summarized why i have loved them for
the last 15 years.  matt lauer actually spoke to them before their
performance.  they briefly discussed their music.  amy mentioned that
their songwriting has improved over the years and emily said they have
come back to the original indigo girls sound with this record.  then
they discussed their activism and gay marriage and matt added that they
are still so popular because of their "social conscience".  amy cited
being disappointed in john kerry's position for civil unions but
against gay marriage and wasn't afraid to say why.  emily talked about
some public meeting she attended in georgia which i believe i read
about right here.  then they sang perfect world which amy described as
being written around a lake with friends (she does a lot of writing
around friends).

i loved they they were interviewed and can't wait to hear them on other
shows this week and next as it's great that they are so vocal on social
issues.  they also sound pretty good-heh heh.  what a great
morning--solidified my fanhood for at least 15 more years!  have a
great week!--greg

the today show was pretty good!  i always wish they'd do more with the girls, but i guess musicians aren't as interesting as three perky young ladies playing charlie's angles in a made-for-tv-movie tonight.  <rolls eyes>  anyway!!

so they mention the girls just a little bit before they feature them, playing "closer to fine" in the background as well as "three hits".  then matt lauer (sp?) introduces them and gives a really short interview before they break into "perfect world".

he asked amy if she thought their music had changed much over the 20 years they'd been really performing together and noted that fans and critics were commenting on how much it *hasn't* on the whole, the idea that "if it's not broke, don't fix it."  amy disagreed a bit, noting that their songwriting has evolved and they as people have evovled.  a good answer.  she looked a little nervous though, rocking back and forth on her feet some.  emily talked about gay marriage and how it *is* an important view to take in this election, not something that should be ignored and that she's glad it's finally coming to the forefront.

matt never *said* the girls were gay but it was the only 'cause' he gave to demonstrate their social conscience.  amy expressed disappointment about kerry not being supportive of gay marriage, opting instead for civil unions.

then matt asked them what they were going to play and amy jumped right in by saying they were going to play "all that we let in" but realized she meant that that was the album title.  emily looked horrified for a split second, shaking her head and laughing, "i can't *play* that!!"  then they broke into "perfect world".

it was a great performance except i noticed when amy's guitar and the rest of the band joins up after the drum intro... amy's guitar *didn't*.  so the song was heavily carried by the banjo and accordian.  it wasn't a bad take, but amy looked a little bit nervous and as soon as the song had ended and they said thank you she turned right to emily and exclaimed, "my guitar wasn't turned on at the beginning!"  she really does worry, doesn't she?

anyway, that was that.  oh, fashion report.  amy was in this great sort of dark gray blue cotton shirt, looked almost remonicent of stuff you'd see hippies wearing back in the 60's, sorta flowing, looked like an import shirt, and a pair of jeans, black boots.  no make-up!  or at least nothing striking for once.  i so prefer her without.

emily was in a pink shirt and black slacks with this great necklace, a big round chunky piece that looked like the inside of a shell.  they were both looking quite fantastic!

ok, must head to the doctor, peace and love ya'll!

yeah, the sound wasn't right... at first i thought it was both of them, and
then i began to hear em's banjo. amy looked frustrated at the situation during
the first verse, (it looked like she was really trying hard to suppress her
usual inclination to start making hand gestures to the sound person, because
they were on tv); but she eventually just rolled with it and looked alot more
relaxed and like she was having fun by the end of the song. (that's part of what
being a good performer is about, anyway... looking like it's fun, and not
drawing the audience's attention to flaws... most of the viewers probably didn't
even notice anything was wrong, although they didn't hear the very best
performance of the song).  i heard her say something to em in the end, too... i
thought she said, "my guitar was all messed up," but it could've been the other,
too. it didn't sound horrible, overall, but it definitely sounded off-balance...
not the best.

me too!  she looks great just the way she is :)  did anyone else who's
watched the directv thing , (or the bonus dvd with atwli), notice that, toward the
end of that show, her eyeliner (or mascara?) was running or getting smudged?
she kinda looked like a racoon... she let somebody put too much makeup on her
for that video.

i'm not good at show reviews, but here is my experience from the show at the norva...

i thought this show was amazing! not necessarily the best setlist ever, but a very good one nonetheless. i had the most incredible time. i thought the energy of the crowd was great. amy and emily really seemed to be having a good time. amy was in a rocking mood. emily had that twinkle in her eye as she smiled.

i flew into norfolk from denver to visit some friends and catch this show. the first time i ever saw them in concert was back in '92 or '93 at the boathouse, and i've been in love ever since. i am generally an emily person, but i will never forget how i felt when amy sang romeo & juliet that first time. i have wanted to hear that song again live for years, and i finally got my wish saturday night! the setlist actually said johnny rotten, but she changed her mind. yippee! love will come and power of two were also a treat!

i managed to get a setlist and a promo poster, so i hung out after the show and got them both signed. emily came out first and was so sweet. she took the time to talk to us and sign, and she even posed for a picture with me!  she was already in her sweats, but said as long as i didn't mind, she didn't either!

we waited for what seemed like an eternity (it was at least another hour) for amy to come out. she was very tired, but she did sign autographs. my friend snapped a quick shot of her signing my poster, but she didn't want to pose with me, and i understood. i thanked her for playing r&j and told her how much that meant to me and she got this big grin on her face and thanked me back. i asked her if we might ever get devotion in a setlist sometime soon, but she just laughed and got on the bus. i can always hope!

anyway, here is the setlist in order:

tether
fill it up again
yield
power of two
shame on you (written shame of you on setlist)
trouble
perfect world
come on home
scooter boys
least complicated
dairy queen
love will come
heartache for everyone
closer to fine
romeo & juliet (listed as johnny rotten on setlist)
free in you
moment of forgiveness

second, weren't the girls supportive of nader in 2000?  i wonder if they are going to make a public gesture of that this time around especially now that they've kinda dissed kerry.  hmmmm.......

we waited for what seemed like an eternity (it was at least another hour) for amy to come out. she was very tired, but she did sign autographs. my friend snapped a quick shot of her signing my poster, but she didn't want to pose with me, and i understood. i thanked her for playing r&j and told her how much that meant to me and she got this big grin on her face and thanked me back. i asked her if we might ever get devotion in a setlist sometime soon, but she just laughed and got on the bus. i can always hope!

unfortunately, i haven't been able to score tickets to either the kalamazoo or chicago shows...both are close to sold out.  does anyone have any insight into whether the girls will be touring in the summer or fall?  i don't want to miss them this year!

based on their tour itinerary thus far, i'm guessing they'll have at
least one more leg to their us tour, if not two.  i'd be surprised if
they didn't weave and wend their way across the west the way they're
scheduled in the east.

for my own part, i've been launching a one-man letter writing campaign
to bring them to spokane, wa.  i don't know if it'll do any good, but
i've written to rcam as well as several possible venues in the area,
all suggesting that spokane would fit nicely into an ig tour.  we'll
see what happens.

i'm pretty sure the vic (where the second chicago show is) is general admission.

as far as the summer tour goes, amy and emily have mentioned that they'd be back out here (on the west coast) in july.  i have a feeling they'll do the east in june (ending in atlanta with that chastain date in late june) and the west coast in july.

i purchased tix during the pre-sale, and then got slightly better seats
using the regular on-line sale the next day... so i have 4 extra tix to
the minneapolis show at the orpheum theater. they are in row g -
balcony, on the right side as you face the stage. it is the 7th row, but
it is right behind the walkway aisle, so there is legroom in front of
these seats. i printed the tickets off my computer, so they are on
computer paper. my friends and i will be in the same row, middle. i'd
like to get $45 per ticket, which is slightly less than i paid and
includes the massive fees.

please e-mail me if you are interested... tsuch002@umn.edu.

yes! spokane is a mere 3 hours away, compared to the usual 8 hours it takes
to get to seattle for my ig fix! you go, graham!

although, i'm keeping my fingers crossed that what with this being an
election year, perhaps the summer/fall will bring an honor the earth tour to
montana? we don't have the hot-button issues this year, though,
probably...oh well...i'll just heap all my hopes on graham! :0)

has anyone heard anything about an hte tour this year?

the one hour indigo girls show filmed at the bottom line is being shown on digitial cable systems across the country this month.

it is being shown on a network called music choice; if you have a digital cable system, you have a chance to see the show.

go to the musicchoice.com site and click on the picture or text link for inidgo girls. it will lead you to the schedule of when and where the show will air.

your digitial cable system may not be promoting the show, so please check the web site so that you do not miss the program!

i'm wondering what people's thoughts are on this:
given that a large number of americans want bush out
in the worst way, shouldn't all those anti-bush people
(like me) make their vote count against bush by
casting a vote for the candidate that stands the best
shot against bush?  i think that candidate is kerry,
who i'm not particularly fond of (he's stated he's
going to support an amendment in ma stating that
marriage ought to be for men & women, but he's trying
to make himself look like a good guy because he's
insisting that he'll only support that amend. if there
is a clause in there providing for civil unions.  that
sucks, mr. kerry, but right about now he is looking
like a better choice than bush.  so i say why waste
your vote on nader, who doesn't stand a chance.  why
divide the vote against bush?  let's not make it easy
for bush to get reelected.  i am not.  i feel a vote
for kerry is a vote for the  lesser of two evils.
what a choice.  i just want to add, nader speaks more
for me than either of the two other candidates, but
again, i want to make my vote count, and i feel a vote
for nader is a wasted vote - a vote for bush if you
will.  is my dilemma shared, in general, on this list?
i am really upset by this election and the choices
that i have and the decision i have made, because i
feel i am compromising my principles by voting for
kerry, but on the other hand, i want to vote bush out.
no more bush.  sorry for the long political rant.

i doubt there will ever be the perfect candidate for me, one who
agrees with me on every issue -- unless i run for office. but then again, i'm a
unitarian universalist, so who knows how often my views will change? :)
but i think kerry offers the best alternative to oust bush. i
seriously considered nader in the 2000 election, but would not do so now. for better
or worse, 9/11 changed the rules of the game, and i don't think someone who has
never held elected office is the best alternative.
nader, to me, is much less relevant in these times. i'd take him more
seriously if he aspired to hold *some* political office, to gain his chops.
kerry, for all of his flaws, does know foreign policy and has experience in the
federal government realm.
in gardening terms, grass roots means from the ground up. it ought to
work for political aspirations, too.

thank you.  you have expressed my thoughts about the campaign exactly.
another round of "the lesser of two evils."  so i guess you will have to talley my
vote for kerry.  i did go to kerry's website and let him know he should not
take the lgbt vote for granted (yes, i know he will be hanging on my every
word.)  i have heard talk in our community about voting for nader.  but i have to
agree that a vote for nader is taking away a vote for getting bush out of
office.

i think kerry's message is resonating.  i voted for gore in the last election because i knew it would be close, although i did consider voting "green."  i like gore, but the media "gored" him by marching to the the republican framing ~ i still can't believe how many journalists hopped on the republican spin wagon in 2000, without researching the exaggerations and erroneous claims that were heaped on al gore.  i think gore underestimated what was coming at him in 2000.

my biggest fear in the upcoming election is that the bushies will rig it. kerry's got a good start, but this will be a nasty battle, and bush knows he's down in the polls (although he seems to be oblivious to the fact that many americans are sick of his policies, sick of the lies, and want real change).

this country's in for a world of hurt and a near theocratic executive branch if dubya's elected (note that i didn't use "re-elected" ~ he was selected by the scotus).

just my two cents.

i think amy put it well on the today show and
kind of follows my train of thought.  if you're
kerry, what to do to get elected?  he knows the
gays aren't voting for bush, but he needs the
moderates too.  he's already got some people
saying he's 'too' liberal, and he doesn't want to
alienate the more conservative democrats.  he's
walking a thin line, and i think he has to.

i think he's saying we (gays) deserve equality,
but just call it a different name to appease the
older generations who for whatever reason just
can't tolerate us using the word 'marriage'.

actually, i think this is the crux of the matter
for a lot of the ignorant ones.  i mean, if
you're a straight homophobe, and you're married,
then if gay people get married, there's just not
enough difference between them and you.  you know
what i mean?  does that make sense?  i mean, i
know it doesn't make logical sense, but i think
that's how some of those who don't 'get it' think.

hi tara,

yes, i understand he is appealing to the masses, a
kind of "make everyone happy" mentality, "let's
appease the conseratives" by calling it something
else.  i do understand that. politically, he doesn't
want to shoot himself in the foot. but, the fact of
the matter is that civil unions are not equal.  they
do not provide the same legal protections to gay
committed civil unionized couples as a heterosexual
married couple are entitled to under the law
nationwide that marriages do.  so, do you think  kerry
is only pandering to the massess by being
"conservative" and playing with semantics, and once/if
he gets into office, he's going to give the go ahead
on gay marriage?  i hope so, but i don't know if he'll
do the right thing.  he's still better than bush
though.
>

if he's saying we gays deserve equality, then why go
on record as saying you will support an amendment that
makes the def. of marriage between a man and a woman?
when he knows darn well that civil unions are not
equal?  marriage is equal.  if he believed in equality
for gays, he'd support gay marriage.

you know , i don't know if i will get married once it
becomes legal in massachusetts, but i's sure thankful
that we have a choice here.  i hope that choice
becomes recognized nationwide eventually.  and
something i don't understand, how can the state of
massachusetts propose an amendment to keep marriage
just between man & woman, when the mass supreme court
has already ruled that gay marriage will be legal
soon?  they can't revoke gay marriage, can they?

actually, if you examine the actual record, bush and his cabinet were
already making strides toward grabbing more power before 9/11 happened,
and the attacks only gave them grounds to move more boldly and quickly
than they otherwise might have.

it's hard to imagine anyone with a cabinet such as bush's not being a
"puppet."  with members who date back to the nixon administration (and
we all know how power-hungry he was...), how can there be any doubt
that bush isn't simply a pretty face put forward for public consumption
while those who are actually making policy are continuing fights began
over 30 years ago to consolidate power and take over?

i've often asked people who were getting into political conversations
with me at bars (never good policy to discuss religion or politics at a
bar), "raise your hand if you feel like anyone in office truly
represents you and your views."  i don't believe anyone ever felt
really represented.  is kerry a candidate i want to support?  no, not
really.  but he's going to get my support because, even if it's only
for 4 years, anyone but bush will be a better choice.

i agree, and what better place to gain cash and exposure is at the
grass-roots level.
right now, i am glad to have my democratic congressman in nj, who
stands up to the republican power, but he didn't even garner an official
republican candidate in his last election. there was a modest write-in attempt by a
republican, but this dem is just so powerful in this area, republicans knew it
was a losing cause.
i ended up voting for the least likely grass-roots candidate
imaginable -- me. i knew it wouldn't make a difference in the end, but hopefully it
sent a tiny message.
but i am sure there are areas where congressional candidates are
vulnerable to a successful third-party candidate.
to put it in ig terms, they didn't get the "today" show as their first
gig, they worked their way up. i'd love to see a groundswell of greens at the
local, county and state levels -- and already have voted for them whenever i
could.

hmmmm.

i guess i don't really vote for the person that i want to represent *me.* i
vote for the person i want to represent america. do i want the us to turn into
me? no. do i want everyone in america to change their political views and
agree with me? nah. i would be asking for the impossible.

there are far too many differing opinions for us to ever agree on any single
leader (thank god), so voting for a leader that you feel specifically fits
your own personal views is, well, somewhat selfish. we are choosing a leader for
america, not for our kitchen. how can we expect someone to ever understand our
views if we never understand theirs?

everyone is always touting the word 'change' like its something you order at
a mcdonald's drive-thru. change doesn't come fedexed overnight -- change
happens so gradually that it all too often goes unnoticed. so many voters these
days have political add, and they want a complete 180-degree nader flip at the
white house right now. what would happened to america if he did win? would
america happier? or would *you*?

take care all,

ryan

good point.

hmm, i don't know if it "selfish" as much as
"unreasonable" to think that somebody represents
everything you believe in.  like you said,
(paraphrasing here) nobody can be everything to
everybody.

but your statement does make me think.

here's the most important question in my mind re gay marriage and the
presidency:

who do you want in office when the next vacancy on the us supreme court
opens up?

that could be in the next four years. this court has done right by us. the
texas ruling, for one. the recent refusal to hear the appeal by the boy
scouts that they are being discriminated against -- losing government fuding
across the country -- for their stance on gays. by refusing to hear it the
supremes let the lower court ruling stand: essentially, yeah, you have the
right to discriminate. but governments and groups like the united way have a
right to not fund you because you discriminate.

you want gw in office when the next seat opens up? you want another scalia?
if you think that might be acceptable go to the scoutus.gov website and read
his dissent in the texas sodomy case if you havent seen the full thing. it
will make your heart stop.

john kerry might not be perfect but he'll appoint someone sane to the high
court. and know what? the supreme court is where the gay marriage issue will
ultimately be decided. just like brown vs. board of ed. you think
integration of the schools would ever have happened politically or by
popular vote on a referendum.

you think gay marriage will ever come about thru the congress or referendum?
no way.

the supreme court is our only hope. most pundits agree it is almost a
certainty a seat will open up in the next four years.

you might not love john kerry, but life is about compromise. ralph nader
cannot win. he takes away from kerry's vote more than bush's most likely.

again: the ultimate question on gay marriage -- never mind everything else
that is going on in these crazy times: do you want gw to fill the next seat
on the supreme court???

hey all.

are setlists being posted on any website? (they dont seem to be posting them

do people on the list who go to shows usually post them? (i might just be
spoiled. on the springsteen group, they post the setlists in realtime!
someone calls in to a designated wingnut, er, i mean dedicated fan who posts

well after looking at the setlists (thanks joey!) and thinking about my last
ig experience on the by tour, im kinda sorry to see they seem to be playing
90 minute sets.

i think 90 minutes is kinda cheap. they used to play for two hours. anyone
know what's up with this?

in comparison, recent shows ive been to:

steve earle: 2 hours and 20 minutes. (so fla)
lucinda williams: 2 hours and 35 minutes. (so fla)
wilco: 2 hours and 15 minutes. (so fla)
wilco (albeit in chicago for this one, their homebase) 3 hours.
dixie chicks: 2 hours and 15 minutes. (so fla)
springsteen: 2 1/2 hours (4 times on the rising tour, nj, sofla and nyc). 2
hours and 50 minutes. the rising closing show at shea in nyc.
u2: two hours on the all that we cant leave behind tour.

ticket prices-- for all but springsteen and u2, the prices were the same as
ig.

hey everyone,

i was going to stay out of this poll (as i really don't think it belongs on
this list and because who i vote for is solely my own business), but i feel
i have to speak up for nader and non-democrat voters.

this election, i won't be voting for bush but i probably won't vote for
kerry either. i may vote for nader, but i need to look more closely into why
he split with the green party. my philosphy of voting is to vote for the
best person i can. whether s/he wins or not is somewhat irrelevant. if i do
not vote for the best person, the person i most want to see in the office,
then i am compromising my ideals in a way that i am not comfortable with.

i doubt that i will ever vote for a democrat again (and i cannot imagine
voting for a republican). the reason for this is that i do not feel the
democrats represent my beliefs. they have sold out the gays, the blacks, the
environmentalists, the liberals, etc. they have ceased to care what these
groups say or think because they believe that we will vote for them anyway.
after all, they would say, what choice do we have? well, we do have a
choice. voting for third parties lends those parties some strength and some
clout. also, it sends a message to the dems that they do not have us in
their backpockets. i do not owe my vote to the dems simply because they are
less evil than the reps. they are almost as beholden to big business as the
reps; they just talk a better game and are more subtle about their sell
outs.

i'm tired of hearing that nader cost gore the 2000 election. i think gore
cost gore the 2000 election. if he represented various factions of the dems
better, perhaps so many wouldn't have fled to nader and other candidates.
also, everyone is willing to point to nader and say he siphoned off
democratic votes, but what about the hundreds of thousands of dems who voted
for bush? how is that nader's fault?

i don't want to see bush in the white house for another four years. if he
wins, i'll be very disappointed in america and in this world in general.
but, another defeat might be good for the dems in some ways. it might teach
them that they do not own the liberals, gays, blacks, etc. it might teach
them that if they lose the more left-leaning members of the party, they
can't succeed. it might mobilize more people to vote or become politically
active.

as for kerry specifically, he's got a troubling record. he voted for the
patriot act but not to fund it. he voted for invading iraq but not for some
of the necessary funding. this smacks of someone who wants have his cake and
eat it, too. it's waffling and trying to please both sides. he also voted
for the telecommunications competition and deregulation act of 1995, which
is partly responsible for the giant monopolies that now control the radio
airwaves. he also voted for the communications decency act which would've
imposed major censorship on the internet had it not been found
unconstitutional. he voted for the invasions of grenada and panama, among
other uses of force. none of these votes necessarily makes kerry a bad guy,
but it should make one question exactly how well he would represent your
interests and beliefs.

as far as gay marriage and other queer issues go, there are only two parties
(that i know of) that have as part of their platforms complete equality for
gays and lesbians: the green and the libertarian parties.

cheers,
tom m.

guess i'll join the conversation.
yes, both parties are beholden to corporations - our system is vastly =
out of
whack and unrestrained corporate power is harmful to us.
=20
but we have more of a shot at changing the democratic party than =
changing
the rightwing that pays for the republican party.
=20
this time, we must be realists, not idealists - hopefully that luxury =
can
return soon, but if you thought bush's first term was bad, wait until =
you
see him and his cronies during a second term  when he knows he can't run
again. =20
=20
with nothing to stop him, he may define an america that is =
unrecognizable to
people of conscience, honor, caring, and honesty. =20
=20
now, on a musical note (pun intended), i'm loving atwli, and i think my
favorite song on it is the one the cd is named for.

getaccess is a program of clearchannel.  not all presales are getaccess
presales, in fact, most ig presales aren't.  basically, in general
pre-sales, a percentage of the total seats are made available.  get
access usually only makes about 200 seats total available.  the seats
offerered are not the best in the house, but just a random selection of
seats.  often times, you will find better seats later on in the general
sale, than you would during a presale.=20

well the girls were great!  emily looks so good in her "hip" clothing :-)  they played perfect world to no surprise and spoke a little bit before about their career and the music scene.  i'm most excited that amy mentioned the be good tanyas, one of my favorite groups, when asked what women in music she thinks will have the longevity that ig has experienced.  the tanyas are awesome and if you haven't heard of them, definitely check them out.  now i just need to get on the sugarland band wagon, which emily praised as a good female group of late.
okay, back to work!

i checked a few sites and ig were listed as being on w/val kilmer on fri. 3/12, but the time is what i'm confused about:

wgbh carries his show at 12pm and 6pm on ch 44
and at 1:30 am on ch 2

i couldn't find a listing of who's on at these times, though.

on another site, (not wgbh)i saw the show time as being 1am or 11pm, but i could not identify the channel or area.

more specific info is needed, if anyone has it.

thanks,
rena

it must depend on the venue. i got 2nd row center seats at 12:01 (1 minute
into the presale) for  the first of two shows in west palm beach in april.

for lucinda williams i got fourth row at the same venue two minutes into the
presale..

i think emily and amy would be pleased that we are
rationally discussing political issues, especially in
light of the themes on their new album!

i have personally enjoyed the intelligent and

in my opinion you didn't miss too much.  they
said a couple of bands they liked and then played
perfect world, once again to some sound problems.
amy was singing sharp, so her monitor must not
have been right.  it seems like every time
they're on tv, something doesn't go quite right.
you'd think the sound people, whether they are
ig's or the show's, would get it figured out
ahead of time.  i mean i know stuff happens, i
was in a band once, but geez, that's gotta be
frustrating.

juliana made an interesting point about age and time of ig discovery.

i first started listening when the self-titled album came out back in 1989,
when i was in college.  i first saw them in december of '89.  i wasn't
particularly impressed, but the album grew on my over the coming year.

i saw them again, twice, (in two different states) in 1991.  by then, i was a
real fan.  by 1992, they upgraded both their band and their stage show
significantly, imo, and i was travelling to see multiple shows.  been doing that
ever since.

loved the first five albums.  very disappointed with shaming of the sun, but
then i thought cons was that much weaker (and i'm not afraid of r&r - hell, my
first love is the who).  i was relieved when become you came out.  jury's
still out on the new one.

ive read several places it was inspired by the death of her cat.

here is an excerpt from atlanta magazine, jan. 1990:

amy's compositions, however, erupt from the gut and gun unashamedly
for same.

in "kid fears," hailed by some critics as the album's most powerful
moment, her high-octane alto growls and bellows in clever metaphors about
idealism sold for a price. ("skipping stones/we know the price now/any sin
will do./how much further if you can spin/how much further if you are
smooth.")

amy, after all, is the person who wrote "secure yourself," a song about
the spiritual journey into heaven, after her cat died.

(although i did turn it on just in time to see the amy/emily makeout thing, pretty wild, not as wild as when star jones and barbara walters noticed what the girls were up to and paired off themselves though. mmm-mmm, nothing hotter than journalist on journalist action.

there is no interview show that is more notorious for changing the lineup at the last
minute than charlie rose.  even if the girls are taping on a particular day, there is a
chance we won't see the interview for up to a few weeks afterwards.  the show sends out
e-mail updates daily and then they often change the lineup in the few hours before
showtime.  i'm just saying, set your vcrs or almighty tivos for several successive
episodes.

oh they were really good to amy and emily...they started with gotm, then
(what was
her name? grace? the co-anchor was new today.)  she told the girls  that
she's been a
ga-ga fan of theirs since 1989, and asked them
if their music has changed over the years, and some other questions i
forgot.

then they played perfect world, and then at the very end they plyed fill
it up again but
cut into half way into the song!!!! i think
producers must really think that the music is good to end with...that's
fine just include the whole song!

i love fiua, for it's counterpuntal harmonies.
that's the girls'  hallmark inmho.

presale has already started for richmond, va show

seats available are really good.

i recommend the loge for this show - it's a
small-ish venue, and the sound is really great
from there.

i thought this show was a 7-9am show.  luckily, i was free that morning and could watch till 10am.

on the bbs at indigo girls.com, two posters put up setlists for the saturday
show at radio city.

neither poster indicates that "closer to fine" was played.

is that right?  or did they play it saturday?

if they didn't, does anyone know if it would be a first?

personally, i'd miss it because it's always such a good time singing along
and watching them beam. and  after all these years, i still just love that
song.

but i mean it would neither be a show breaker nor a disappointment for me if
they didn't play it. i was thinking while watching the directv thing: geez,
i wonder if they ever get really tired of playing closer to fine.

so did they play it saturday or not? and if they didn't, did people grumble
on the way out?

sign me,
curious in miami!

they will be on a&e (the cable channel)
"breakfast with the arts" next sunday,
it's 8am to 10am on the pacific coast,
i think it's the same time everywhere,
but check your local tv listing.

a&e's  "breakfast with the arts" is the only program
i videotape every week, no exception... some weeks are
about opera or classical music, i rarely watch them,
but other weeks are about pop/folk/rock music, i will
always watch those.

the program is several subjects, but the main subject
is at least an hour, sometime an hour-and-a-half,
with lesser subjects the remaining time.

next week, they are having a special "women rock" segment,
with chrissie hynde, amy and emily, and aimee mann... they
usually do an in-depth study, i will keep this videotape.  :)
