hi all -
i finished reading the book a few weeks ago - it's a good read and it give you plenty to think about. one of the chapters that really hit me is how music unites us and touches us. as a musician and music lover i have been sharing music with others for most of my life and there is nothing better than introducing someone to a piece of music and having them light up and say - yes, that is me. in addition, how many times i have listened to a song and said - how do they know that about me? how have they (songwriter/singer)captured my pain so well?
the book also brought back to mind how powerful music is - that songs are passed down generation to generation...my grandmother was fixing to die and she really wanted to hear a tape that my deceased grandfather made of the history of a camp they had both founded. the tape had been missing for years - but we found it. my grandmother died within minutes of hearing my grandfather singing taps. she needed to hear it and she did.
read the book - its good and an easy read!

so you haven't read the book yet huh? it's very easy reading, but you cannot always tell who's writing what? i guess maybe they don't want us to know that so it looks like it's coming from the both of them.that and i wish emily would have expounded more on what she has seen in her travels. other than that it's okay. not great but not bad either.

you might look at http://www.wamu.org/programs/dr/04/12/09.php for the
link to the actual show. it's not a download -- it's a real player
stream. these things are pretty much online forever once they're
posted, so you should be able to find it there anytime.
enjoy!

my friends in uncle earl are looking to book a show somewhere in
northhampton... they would really dig doing a college gig that included
visiting classes during the day and then a show in the evening. anyone
got contacts at any of the universities in the area? could someone
forward this to the baigls?
thank you,

solo - especially interesting to hear her father sing amy's part on

the fact that i visited the site a few days ago and wound up listening to the thing about gay pride for an hour....anyway....boy that really was an interesting emily and don interview. i just had to sing amy's parts....i just love harmony so so much and i love... our deliverance.

whatever happened to the threatened ig rarities album? i remember
getting official email asking what i wanted to see on such a release,
and there was mention of it coming out sometime in the past 12 months,
but now i've not seen or heard anything about it for such a long
time...
anyone have any updates on this?
