it was my understanding that tori allows taping but only if you use them for
personal use or trading (i could be wrong though; i'll check on the tori
list). tori is totally against internet file sharing of commercially
released stuff.
tori doesn't "allow" taping but she's not completely against it. basically
you have to tape a tori show in secret mostly because tori is a control freak -
she likes to have control of her recordings at all times... in the early days
she was anti-bootleg because companies were selling poor quality recordings.
nowadays she knows we all tape and probably doesn't care as long as no one
sells them, but that's a far cry from allowing open taping. she's also made
comments during shows on how handy bootlegs are - for example, someone gave her a
bootleg of a show where she did a cover of boys in the trees a long time ago in
order to refresh her memory and see if she'd play it. she did, and wasn't in
the least upset that the person gave her a bootleg. so, basically, you still
have to tape in secret but i think she's come to accept that they are out there.
also, the trading community as a whole as against sharing commerically
released material, whether it's tori or anyone. that's just evil.

in the twin cities that same day i will go to.

hey madison people,

i'm trying to find radio stations/specific shows that might be appropriate
for uncle earl.  uncle earl is an all-female old time band and relevant
radio program genres are:  women's music, old time, roots, bluegrass,
gospel, americana, alt-country, and foreign language interest (mandarin
chinese).

and if you don't live in madison, but you know a radio station/dj that
would definitely play something like this, please let me know!

i appreciate all the help this list offers me and so many others.  thanks
everyone.

father on kcrl yesterday.  did anyone record it?  my internet connection to the

i got this email from a friend at church....deb. sounds like a plan:

not one damn dime day
inauguration day, thursday, january 20th, 2005 is "not one damn dime  day" in america. on "not one damn dime day" those who oppose what is happening in our name in iraq can speak up with a 24-hour national boycott of all forms of consumer spending.

during "not one damn dime day" please don't spend money.  not one damn dime for gasoline. not one damn dime for necessities or for impulse purchases. not one damn dime for anything for 24 hours.  the object is simple: remind the people in power that the war in iraq is immoral and illegal; that they are responsible for starting it and that it is their responsibility to stop it.

"not one damn dime day" is to remind them, too, that they work for the people of the united states of america, not for the international corporations and k street lobbyists who represent the corporations and funnel cash into american politics.

there's no rally to attend. no marching to do. no left or right wing agenda to rant about. on "not one damn dime day" you take action by doing nothing. you open your mouth by keeping your wallet closed.  for 24 hours, nothing gets spent, not one damn dime, to remind our religious leaders and our politicians of their moral responsibility to end the war in iraq and give america back to the people.

i had plans to go, but it just seemed a bit to far to travel in the middle

infinite amount of time/energy/resources, it's one of those thingsi will
sit out...now if a supreme ct nominee has hearings, well, i'd be down there...

what would amy and emily do?

i went to dc for the inaguration protest four years ago.  it was
really empowering, and there were more people protesting than there
were bush supporters!  my girlfriend and i were thinking about going
this year, but it didn't pan out (from the west coast, getting to dc
requires a lot of advance planning).  i may go to a local san
francisco one.  i really wish i could be there again this year, but
it's just not going to happen.  to anyone who's going:  be loud and
have fun.  :)

<<what would amy and emily do?>>

they'd go over to www.internationalanswer.org or www.notinmyname.org,
or www.veteransforpeace.org, and find out if their city is having some-
thing january 20th. i say this because answer is planning to have events across the country from d.c. to ca.and this is a very important
oppertunity for us all to stop licking our wounds over the election and start resisting bush instead of waiting for him to attack.and besides, this is the first time in the history of the history of the anti-war movement in washington d.c. that protestors will actually be allowed to be present on the motorcade route, meaning bush will probably see us.

anyway....back to your regularly scheduled ig listenning.

the debut of the gay and lesbian themed cable channel logo has been pushed back from feb. 14 (valentine's day) to june 30. a newspaper story said the delay was because the network needed to convince more cable operators to carry the programming.

brian graden, the head of mtv networks, the system launching logo was quoted as saying: "we have to take the time to explain to some of them that there's really nothing to be afraid of."

stay tuned...
