--no, haven't yet. but i got the impression from what i saw on hit me baby... that maybe she'd be worth the ticket. ;-) will have to check her out sometime.

you're probably right about her cd being over-produced and too commercial. probably why i couldn't stand it at the end. no wonder she was unhappy about recording under a major label. maybe now she's finally getting her opportunity to be herself. ;-)

i have two sophie b. hawkins stories:

one, i was looking at a listing of films for a gay and lesbian film festival a few years ago and i saw a documentary about her was one of the choices. according to the program guide, she id's herself as an omni or pan sexual, meaning if she loves someone and wants to make love to them, she makes no distinction between whether they are a man or a woman.

which probably adds new meaning to her hit, "damn, i wish i was your lover."

two, i was in new york city a few years ago and i read that the release of one of her singles and albums was delayed for over a year by the record company. it was held because the single they wanted to release had a banjo solo on it and the record company felt the banjo wasn't commerical enough. sophie b. refused to take the banjo off and the record company finally gave in, but that should tell you why her stuff sounds the way it does!

p.s. i have digital cable through adelphia and so far, i do not have logo. i read a press release that said adelphia digital cable would be one of the systems that would carry it. stay tuned...
