the sugarland cd sounds very commercial-country-rock. but it's still a cut above much of what "passes" for country music these days (i prefer alt-country ;-). jennifer nettles, the lead singer, appears on bon jovi's current cd (have a nice day), hence the crossroads special.
it sure pays to appreciate the "past." you never know where any of your old favorites might turn up. :d

very true - several former listees are were in fairly large bands...
i still think of a kristen bootleg i taped when molly bancroft was in
the audience.
hey, i remember when kristen "retired" and how the friends i stayed
with in atlanta saw her in centenial park the same day as the emily
solo show in 1996.
it is cool sugarland is getting big - maybe they will play closer
than boston...
mike in maine.

i haven't followed this thread until mike's post so i don't know if
someone mentioned this before but as for crossroads. i thought the episode
with lucinda williams and elvis costello was pretty good. i have a copy on
cd. they worked pretty well together and were pretty gooey about each
other.
looking at the past performances that i have missed, there were some
fairly odd pairings, wynonna and heart, yikes a twanged up version of
barracuda.
as for who would be a compliment to indigo girls, lets put them with kris
kristofferson.

hey there!
i was talking with bob egan, who used play with wilco and is now a =

opportunities. i asked him if he would be interested in traveling down =

the bob egan i know is a software engineer...married to fran, den
mom, indigo taxi goddess, and i have actually seen wilco with them
(and without and uncle tupelo a looooong time ago.)
i'd try to do something in maine - maybe neily hunt (oh the memories,
just wish my friend wasnt like, potentially dying during the middle
of the pat d. show i saw at his house. that was a blast...
i'd kill to see wilco offshoot at a houseconcert. i know a couple
places possible for a lewiston area show - dunno if it'd work out cuz
most of the folks i know usually do benefits. tho there is a great
venue at bates college called the ronj, which is a big orange house,
and yes, it's inaccessable, but it would be freakin sweet to see
again, a wilco offshoot at a house concert.
