ok--i know this list isn't the place to be anymore with other forums being
more popular.  but there has to be some discussion of the brilliant video ig
have put togther for last tears.  i almost fell off my chair seeing them
dressed up like republicans.  emily with pearls and hair in a bun.  amy with
lipstick in a skirt.  the irony of it all and the total dig on dubya is
worth a look if you haven't seen it already.  i loved it.  cannot wait to to
see them at the hrc true colors kickoff next weekend here in vegas.

did anyone else see this video?  check it out!

thank you so much for that - i love that video.  i live in dallas tx  where a lot of people look exactly like that - and the young republican sweeping up the dregs of a failed policy and administration is just priceless.  Wish it would get wider play!  We need to figure out how to get it on keith olbermann's show!

oh. my. god.  i have to say, i am guilty.  guilty of totally blowing off
what seemed like dozens of messages about the video.  is it because "last
tears" is not exactly my favorite song on not exactly my favorite ig album?
not sure.  but there was a time when i would have been positively salivating
about a new video.  any new ig video.  there were so few, comparatively
speaking, through the years.  am i jaded?

because the emails...the myspace bulletins...all of it with "'last tears'
video" as a subject line, i  just flat out ignored, skipped, deleted.  until
this message from greg and the replies this a.m.  fine, i grumbled, i'll
check this out.  it's totally brilliant!!   i am seriously disappointed in
myself for putting it off and i am going to let this be a lesson to me.

and on that note i, much like many of you, have seen the girls in concert
somewhere between 25-30 times.  just the other day one of my friends went to
see them in concert (arizona) for her first time. i wasn't there; i'm on the
east coast.  but the friend texted, of course, to delightedly tell me, "i'm
seeing your girls in concert tonight!" later her concert report was that she
was totally amazed, they're so great and so humble, my friend is inspired to
know them more, etc.  What another great reminder.  they are so still
wonderful. how could i forget?  What, i was too busy filling out some
high-schoolers grammar error-laden "have you ever been in the bedroom of
your significant other?" survey on myspace that i couldn't watch my heroes'
new video?  sheesh.

any of you out there still blowing off watching the video - seriously.  it's
too funny what they did.  but more importantly it reminds me why i love
them.   i have seen the error of my ways.

~linda~

p.s. speaking of seeing the error of ways, greg- have you stopped shopping
at Wal mart yet?

ha--that is too funny that you remember this.  first off, you should not
feel so guilty about blowing off the new video and new ig announcements.  my
initial thought when i saw the myspace bulletin was--last tears?  now why
would they do a video of that old clunker of a song.  so i clicked on the
link, first watched the despite our differences promo video.  this was
pretty cool too and well edited.  but the last tears video, i just couldn't
stop shrieking. oh. my. god.  that's all i could say.   amy did look like
she was 85.  i just find it amazing that the dixie chicks got all that crazy
coverage for uttering a few negative words about dubya.  ig does a whole
video dissing the guy and his whole party.  i wish there was some right wing
outrage about it so ig would get to go on all the talk shows and be on
magazine covers to spout some intelligence.  agreed about getting it on
keith olbermann.  only sad thing is, if you don't know ig, you wouldn't know
how ironic the dress up clothes are to fully grasp the brilliance of the
video.  i could see someone first seeing ig saying, wow, those girls have
really gone conservative with their outfits.  but i love that we all get it.

as for Walmart...i do not shop there anymore.  but it is mostly because the
clientele who shop there in vegas are disgusting, dirty people with 10 kids
wrapped in their shopping carts. as someone working in the child welfare
business, i would end up having to make abuse and neglect reports in every
aisle.  besides, their produce isn't fresh :).  maybe not the right reason
but the right actions :).  good weekend all....g
