subject: 04 june 2007 ~ san diego, ca concert review

hello again from southern california, where in san diego, we specialize in
june gloom!

despite being overcast, it was a good night to hear amy and emily pour over
their strings once again.

now, i have heard brandi carlisle's name mentioned before on this list, but
i confess, i haven't checked her music out.  i was urged to buy her cd
tonight, and now, i know why!  she and her band just played up in portland,
the night before, and they were still in the airplane clothes--at least
brandi was.  she wasn't able to breakout her curling iron either, but we
loved her and her set anyway.

afterwards, there were droves, droves, i tell you, headed over to the merch
table. btw, ig added a t-shirt of the album cover of despite our
differences to their table. i believe it was $20. anyway, i swept off all
three cd's of brandi's and had her sign her latest, the story.

indigo girls love playing at humphrey's outdoor venue. i didn't check out
if their were boats docked off in the bay listening to the concert--but i'm
sure there were some. amy goes, "i know we've played this song here
before." (referring to ozilline)

brandi was thrilled to be opening for ig.  she mentioned she was 14 or 15
when their music influenced her life.  she picked up the guitar and here she
is.  amy said she didn't want to be out on stage for the first two verses of
kid fears--so she came up later.  how weird would that be to sing with your
heroes, when you memorized that song when you were a young'un?  she was
awesome.

throughout the concert, there were the random shout-out requests for songs.
amy was happy that they had chosen three that were mentioned (i think they
were chickenman, kid fears, and ghost).

also, in section c, you know who you are, there were some happy drunks who
wanted to dance in front of the stage, but security was pretty firm about
them not getting up there, and let them crowd the aisle instead. first
there was this filipino lady there, who kept asking them to ?calm down;
later, there was a burly black man. i was glad he was there, because i was
seated in that area.

amnesty international had a table there tonight, like amy mentioned.

song highlights this concert for me were: ozilline ("what a blessed sky"),
last tears, chickenman/bitterroot, and watershed. kid fears was amazing,
too.

after the concert, we hung out to get the usual souvenirs~and i grabbed a
pick for c.  another new ig friend i met tonight, got the setlist--which she
had emily sign after the show.  i didn't have anything with me for
autographs, but was able to get my pic taken with ems.  yay!  amy was in her
specs and also stopped to chat on her way to the bus.

i am not having withdrawal yet. but two doses in a row, will sustain me for
a few months. then, it will be youtube clips and concert reviews, etc.
after that to supplement the spirit that is ig.

i have the interview stored to my desktop,i try to burn it to cd for when i go upto the lake this saturday, but i keep getting told my browzer doesn't support the format? i just love kerri miller to death she's the first midmorning host to ever have ig on,and believe me it was over ten years due! can anyone help me? i would be ever so greatful!
