grammy-winning duo the indigo girls will be performing three special
"holly happy days celebrations" this december, including a performance on
thursday, december 9 at irving plaza. the concert will feature guests chely
wright and shawn mullins, who'll be joining the girls on some numbers, as
well as a full band. they'll be performing songs from their first ever
holiday release, holly happy days, out now on ig recordings/vanguard
records. the bluegrass-flavored collection includes new songs written by
the indigo girls as well as seasonal classics.

the indigo girls will also be guests on npr's etown this sunday, november
21 at a show that will be recorded live in boulder, co at the boulder
theater.

the indigo girls will also be appearing as musical guests on friday,
december 3 on fox 5's good day new york (for info go to

early morning saturday's "second cup cafc)" on december 4 (for info go to

they'll also be doing a special in-store performance and signing on friday,
december 3 at j&r music in nyc (23 park row) at 6 pm et.

holly happy days was recorded in nashville with peter collins and a
top-notch group of players: lloyd maines (dobro and pedal steel), victor
krauss (bass), alison brown (banjo), luke bulla (fiddle) and jim brock
(percussion). chely wright contributes an original song, "it really is (a
wonderful life)," and janis ian and mary gauthier join the indigos on
backing vocals for a rousing rendition of woody guthrie's "happy joyous
hanukah." brandi carlile lends backing vocals to several tracks as well.
the cd itself is wrapped like a holiday package and includes three surprise
ornaments.

holly happy days is filled with new ways to celebrate the season. there
are songs that revive our fondest memories of family and home. there are
songs that inspire hope during winter's darkest hours. and there are songs
that remind us that above all else, the holidays are a season of love and
peace and majesty and wonder.
