a really good sounding recording, "shed your skin" is one for the ages, both vocally and with the atmospheric electric guitar, which at one point includes part of "paint it black". "love's recovery" is another standout, with the vocals blending beautifully with vonda shepard's piano.

a really good sounding recording of a very cool benefit show with guest appearances including caroline aiken, gerard mchugh, and dede vogt. highlights include a very intense "scooter boys", a beautiful "everything in its own time", and a really nice "killing time" with dede vogt.

a pretty good sounding recording of a neat, neat show. includes a combined "faye tucker-scooter boys" with great guitar work by emily and stream of conscious lyrics by amy, and a group performance of "the weight".
1998-08-10: 9:30 club - washington, d.c. (gay and lesbian task force benefit)
a pretty good sounding band show from the tail end of the "shaming of the sun" touring season, part of a group of benefit shows sandwiched between appearances at "lilith fair" and the "suffragette sessions tour". the setlist includes a nice mix of the songs that would later comprise the "come on now social" record, there are a lot of spirited performances here including an incredible "cut it out" segueing into "wish you were here", an arrangement in progress of "soon be to nothing", and a very early version of "measure of me" including different lyrics from what was eventually released.

a pretty good sounding recording of a very cool show, in august of 1998 indigo girls, luscious jackson's kate schellenbach, gail ann dorsey, jane siberry, lourdes perez, lisa germano, mecca normal's jean smith, come's thalia zedek, and josephine wiggs, formerly of the breeders, embarked on an 12 date "suffragette sessions" tour, modeled after bob dylan's rolling thunder revue of the 1970s. highlights throughout, including a rock version of "power of two" and jean smith guesting on "soon be to nothing".

an excellent sounding recording, by far the best of the eight known boots from this tour, the crowd is very noisy at times, which seemed to be the case at all the shows. amy ray: "the suffragette sessions tour is a socialist experiment in rock and roll. gather a bunch of musicians from different musical genres who are relatively unfamiliar with each other...throw them on a tour bus together...drop them off at a rock club, and see what happens. no hierarchy, no boundaries."
