[emily saliers] "we played in this club in athens (ga.) and met michael there. he asked us to write a song with him for the people for the ethical treatment of animals compilation album, so we wrote the song ("i'll give you my skin") and played a festival together. we were getting along really well, and they were all in town when we started preproduction for the album in athens, so they just came in and laid down the tracks," she remembered.

the duo recently joined r.e.m. singer michael stipe for a cut on the "tame yourself" fund-raising album for the people for the ethical treatment of animals disc.

sailers has mixed feelings about the results.

"i've never been able to write with anybody, so i don't know if it blended together real well," she says, "but it was fun to see michael, because we don't get to see each other much these days."
